June Favourites

For a bit of beauty inspiration, take a look at the products I have loved during the month of June…

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation (£14.50)

I hadn’t tried any of the Boots No7 foundations until recently. After having a £3 off No7 voucher I decided to give them a whirl. This foundation claims to last up to 24 hours with a natural and lightweight feel. The product gives good medium coverage, and while it lasts a long time, it doesn’t dry to a matte finish so it still manages to look luminous and fresh. Sometimes, long-lasting foundations can tend to cake up and cling to areas of the face during the course of the day. However, I actually think that this foundation looks better as the day goes on. It’s great for those with normal, dry or combination skin. If you prefer a more matte finish maybe try out No7’s Beautifully Matte.

Too Faced Candlelight Glow (£25.00)

I have been using this highlighter for the majority of the month as it’s just so easy to wear. This highlighting powder contains two different shades in a compact. Half is a pale shimmery pink that counteracts any dullness in the skin. The other half is a white gold shade that adds a luminous ‘candlelight glow’ to the face. I usually swirl the two shades together to give a fresh glow to my cheekbones. It does contain shimmer, but doesn’t give an ultra-metallic sheen, so it’s perfect for everyday wear.

Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick (£4.99)

These lipsticks come in a chunky pencil form, which means you get a bit more precision than a regular lipstick. The finish is satin matte, but doesn’t dry lips out and has a creamy texture. They last a really long time on the lips too, so I don’t need to think about reapplying throughout the day. There is a good selection of shades available ranging from everyday nudes to fluorescent pink. I have been wearing ‘Nude Perfection’ a medium nude and ‘Berry Much’ a deep plum.

May Favourites

Here are my very favourite beauty products from the month of May…

Nip Fab Glycolic Fix Serum (£14.99)

This overnight serum has totally transformed the texture of my skin! I apply this to my face before I go to bed and wake up with super smooth, fresh feeling skin. The product promises to improve the surface texture of your skin in two weeks, and I definitely agree with that claims!

NSPA Hot Cloth Polish (£6.00)

I picked this up in Asda on a whim, and this used in combination with the Nip Fab Glycolic serum works wonders! I’ve wanted to try a hot cloth cleanser for ages, as it exfoliates your skin without being too harsh and this one is great value.

Skincare

Body Shop baked blush in Coral (£12.00)

On one of my regular trips to the Body Shop outlet in McArthur Glen I came across their baked blushes, and this one is beautiful! I’m a big fan of baked blushes, as I find them less powdery than traditional blush formulas and they last a very long time. £12 seems quite expensive for a blusher, however when you buy four items in The Body Shop outlet you get 40% off, meaning you can get some really good bargains!

Nivea Lip Butter in Coconut (£2.00)

On a recent shopping trip to Tesco, I was delighted to discover that Nivea have come out with two new lip butters to add to the collection- Coconut and Cocoa. I love these lip butters, they’re so smooth, moisturising and they have the most amazing range of scents (highly addictive!) And at only £2, they are a makeup bag essential!

Becca Skin Perfecting Highlight in Opal

This is massive in the beauty world, and I finally managed to get my hands on it this month. Becca is sold in Space NK stores and on various internet sites, however the shade Opal is forever sold out. Cult beauty (www.cultbeauty.co.uk) became my hero this month when I realised it was in stock. It is a little pricey at £30, but I’m sure this will last forever, as it is the most pigmented highlighter I have ever used. This does mean you need to be cautious in application though, if you want to avoid looking like a disco ball! It gives a beautiful warm golden glow to the face when applied to the top of cheekbones. The perfect product for the coming summer months.

Rimmel Long lasting perfection nude foundation in Soft beige

I wanted to find a new affordable foundation that provided long lasting coverage whilst not being too matte, and this one definitely ticks all the boxes. This foundation lasts all day on my skin but still has a slightly dewy finish, without being tacky to the touch. It provides medium coverage and makes skin look naturally flawless. Some cheaper foundations can change colour throughout the day when they oxidise, but I didn’t find this to be the case with this foundation. You can pick this up in most drugstores and supermarkets for around £7.99.

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette

I had been saving up my Boots advantage card points for quite a while and I finally decided to take the plunge and spend them all in one hit. This palette contains 12 neutral eye shadows, which can be used wet or dry! Now, usually I wouldn’t suggest wetting normal eye shadows as it can ruin the texture and make them unusable. However, these are specially formulated to be used both ways. By wetting the eye shadow you create a more intense colour pigment and also emphasise any sparkle or shimmer in the eye shadow. This is a palette I have been reaching for time and time again this month, as it’s really versatile and contains several unique shades. I purchased this at the Smashbox counter in Boots for £38.
